WELCOME TO MY HIVE

Where the bee sucks, there suck I;
In a cowslip’s bell I lie;
There I couch when owls do cry.
On the bat’s back I do fly
After summer merrily.
Merrily, merrily shall I live now
Under the blossom that hangs on the bough
.

(Shakespeare, The Tempest)

Hello and welcome to The Explorations of a Curious Bee. My name is Sophie, I am an Anglo-Swiss globe-trotter, writer, diviner, natural healer and sometime humanitarian.

Why a curious bee? Bee is my personal totem and has been guiding my literary, spiritual and natural explorations for a long time now.  I gather nectar from many sources but bring it back to my hive to turn into honey (or mead!), I am sociable though I often work alone, I travel far and wide, yet I am a homebod at heart. In my explorations, I use as launching pads encounters, books,  tarot and other imagery, snippets of news, memories, conversations I have or overhear – and all the sights, sounds, smells, tastes and sensations that I experience.

I invite you to buzz in whenever you please to taste some of my offerings: depending on what I have gathered, it might be sweet honey, nourishing royal jelly – or a bee sting!

Among my explorations, you might find pieces of creative writing, reviews, travel tales, thoughts about symbols, musings, pieces filled with indignation, enthusiasm or reflexion…All of them explorations of the various flowers that catch my attention – from natural healing to gardens, from politics to religion, from shamanic practice to magick, from dancing to skiing,  from love to cooking – and everything in between.

    Lovely photo Soph, which country was it taken in? Can I hazard a guess at Andalusia?

  2. viemagiquesn says:

    Thank you, it was in Andalusia! It was taken in June 2008 in the gorgeous and very spiritual Alpujarra Valley, South of Granada.

    Hi Sophie!!! Greetings from a fellow “bee”!!! Ha ha!!! We’re laborious, sweet as honey… yet we have a sting!!!

    (actually, we’d rather be wasps… bees can only sting once…)

  5. viemagiquesn says:

    Hehe, yes we do have a sting, you are right!
