Many thanks, Eva.

My life has changed so much since I posted that entry... mainly, I have met and very recently married a man I love very much, who is also a witch. It's been a beautiful flowering so far. Next month my husband and I move into our first home together in a country completely new to me - Quebec, in Canada. So the witch's journey continues.

I just stumbled on you over the housemate-request.. although I am far away, I just had to click myself through until here.. don't know why or how - sometimes you just have to do things. When I read through your story I had to smile.. although I am probably far younger than you are, a lot of your way reminded me of mine: the tree hugger story, the no hippie, no gothic - so how can I be a witch-story, the Currot's "Book of shadows" reading sensation, the years abroad (though for me it was Asia), ... so I just wanted to say thank you. You inspired me to do something that I really need to do. I wish you well with finding a house mate and also with your path..

"Sleeping Melissae and Priest kings, resting in the Belly of the Earth Goddess: her sacred Omphalos. Wake up from the subterranean beehives of the Earth! Priest kings, resting under a golden heaven of woven honeycomb, wake up! I feed you with honey. Follow the call of the queen bee, she is awake and challenges you to continue the Great Work. Together we will feed the Bee folk with milk and honey."

Thank you for this lovely and very wonderful post which I have only just stumbled across :)

For me you hit the nail on the head when you talk about the need to divest ourselves of the accumulated understanding of Jesus we all hold. For example, even today my son who has never been to church knows the basics of Christian theology. We absorb it from all around, our society, art, literature, culture. One reason why some Pagans do not embrace Jesus is that he is still, unconsciously seen as something other than 'another deity' to them. We may not like this, but I think it is true anyway.

Our Neo-Paganism is influenced by Christianity far more than we imagine. For me this is good thing. For others, who have an inimical relationship with Christianity, it is a hard pill to swallow. Years back Mr Crowley talked about this - how by not invoking Jesus we end up making Jesus into a 'devil' and thus imitate what we sought to avoid in rejecting Christianity.

As you say, there is no easy answer. I DO think however, the post-Easter mythological Jesus of the later Nicene Christianities is different to other deities. The concept that the One, the Godheaad, the ALL, not a deity from a number of deities in a Pantheon, becoming truly human was a daring innovation. For me personally this is how Jesus is different, though of course not exclusive to Christians as you say. My encounters with him are like a moth to a flame; i am always falling, burnt. They are different to encounters with ISIS for example. While each Way, for me, is whole and complete in itself, I am truly blessed to have both. We are so lucky to live in the modern west :)

Thanks again for the post :)
